Rochester, NY — Finger Lakes Performing Provider System (FLPPS) is excited to continue its Career Pathways Training (CPT) Program, providing funded education and training opportunities, along with tutoring, educational case management, and support services for eligible individuals looking to start or advance their career in health, behavioral health, or social care. As part of this ongoing program, FLPPS is spotlighting CPT Program-eligible education and training programs with start dates in January 2026 for prospective students.

Funded by the New York State Department of Health and administered regionally by the FLPPS Workforce Investment Organization, the CPT Program is currently supporting nearly 1,800 students across Western New York, the Finger Lakes, and a portion of the Southern Tier on their path to careers in these fields. Through this work, FLPPS is helping to address critical workforce shortages and build a stronger workforce to meet the evolving needs in communities across the region.

“The response to this program has been tremendous,” said Carol Tegas, CEO of FLPPS. “Each new student represents a step toward strengthening the healthcare, behavioral health, and social care workforce and helps ensure communities have access to the care and support they need. With CPT-eligible education and training programs starting in January, we encourage anyone considering a new career or advancing their career in health, behavioral health, or social care to explore the CPT Program and see how we can help support their goals.”

The CPT Program offers financial and educational support for eligible participants, covering tuition, books, and most academic supplies and fees. Students also receive academic and career support, including tutoring, educational case management, and job placement assistance after graduation, and commit to working at organizations who serve the Medicaid population.

For the upcoming spring 2026 semester, the following CPT-eligible programs have January 2026 start dates:

FLPPS is hosting a virtual informational session on Wednesday, November 19 at 3:00 pm to help interested individuals learn more about the CPT Program, eligibility requirements, available support services, and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and hear directly from program staff. To register, visit https://healthcareersnow.org/cpt.

“Many students have told us they couldn’t pursue their education without the CPT Program,” Tegas added. “By covering tuition and providing support services, we help remove barriers that might have held them back and give them the tools and confidence to pursue a career in health, behavioral health, or social care. This is why we partner with the state, educational institutions, and employers—so every student can realize their potential, achieve their goals, and make a meaningful difference in the communities they serve.”

Participants must complete their education or training program by spring 2027 and commit to three years of full-time service at a qualifying NYS Medicaid-enrolled provider serving at least 30 percent Medicaid and/or uninsured individuals. The service commitment must be fulfilled by 2031; a regularly updated list of qualified employers in the FLPPS region is available on the CPT Program website.

Enrollment deadlines vary by program and institution, with most applications due soon for January 2026 start dates. Individuals interested in enrolling are encouraged to review program requirements at participating institutions and apply soon to secure their seat for the upcoming semester.
