Rochester, NY - At 2:40am, on March 21, Officers responded to a house on Orange Street for the report of a person shot. Officers located an 18-year old female suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. She was transported to Strong Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation found that approximately one hour earlier, the victim had just left the French Quarter Café, 630 West Ridge Road, from a St Patrick’s Day party. A fight allegedly ensued in the parking lot involving a member of the victim’s family. At some point, someone in the opposing group fired at least one shot, striking the victim.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit identified a 17-year old male as the suspected shooter. Yesterday, the United States Marshal’s Task Force located the 17-year old suspect on Gregory Street and safely took him into custody.
The 17-year old male is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree.
