Walnut and Smith St. Shooting

Rochester, NY- This morning at approximately 2:40am officers responded to the 600 block of Smith Street for a shot-spotter activation followed by reports of a male shot.  Upon arrival, officers did locate a 10 year old child who have been shot multiple times and began rendering aid.  The child was eventually transported to Strong Memorial Hospital and is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

As a result of the investigation, it was learned that several shots were fired into a residence from the outside, resulting in the child being struck while inside a bedroom.  The child’s mother and other siblings were also inside the home at the time and were uninjured.  Detectives and officers continue to investigate the circumstances of this shooting and urge anyone with information to contact 911.
