Rochester, N.Y. — The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating an early-morning shooting Thursday involving a postal service employee in Henrietta.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 12:40 a.m. at the U.S. Postal Service’s main processing facility on Jefferson Road. Upon arrival, deputies found a postal worker who had been shot by an unidentified suspect who fled the scene in a vehicle before law enforcement arrived.
Deputy David Marcucci confirmed that the victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released. As of Thursday afternoon, no arrests had been made, and investigators continue to search for the suspect.
The incident adds to a growing list of shootings in and around workplace and retail parking lots in the Rochester region this year. In July 2025, one man was shot and killed outside the Wegmans Distribution Center in Gates. That shooting, which occurred during an overnight shift change.
Earlier this year, in another high-profile case, a person was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Gates. Police said the incident followed an altercation between two individuals and was not considered random.
Law enforcement officials say these incidents, while unrelated, highlight growing safety concerns in public and commercial spaces. Data from the Rochester Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office indicate that while overall violent crime rates have stabilized compared to 2023, gun-related incidents in public parking areas have shown a slight uptick in 2025.
Community leaders and law enforcement officials have urged residents to remain vigilant, particularly in large public and workplace parking lots during overnight and early morning hours. Police continue to encourage anyone with information about these incidents to come forward, emphasizing that tips can be made anonymously.
As investigations continue, officials say cooperation between the public, local businesses, and law enforcement remains critical to preventing further violence.
