Rochester, NY - On February 10, 2026, around 11:50pm, Officers responded to a house on Thorndale Terrace for the report of a female with a laceration. Officers found her to be suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. She was transported to Strong Hospital by ambulance for treatment of serious injuries that, following emergency surgery, were deemed to be non-life threatening.
The preliminary investigation found that she was sleeping in her bed in an upstairs apartment when a bullet traveled through the floor from below, striking her. Due to the circumstances, the SWAT Team executed a search warrant in the lower apartment. The search located evidence of at least one shot fired from an assault style rifle into the ceiling of the apartment. During the investigation, Detectives learned that 27-year old Sedrick Ellison, allegedly, recklessly fired an assault style rifle into the ceiling, which struck the sleeping victim upstairs. He then fled the scene before Officers arrival.
This morning, Ellison was safely taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Jail. He is expected to be arraigned this evening in CAP Court.
Sedrick Ellison, age 27, is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possess of an Assault Weapon in the 3rd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree.
