Rochester, NY- Starbridge marks a powerful milestone this year. A decade of creating opportunities and transforming communities for people with disabilities by honoring outstanding local leaders who embody that mission.

At its 10th Annual Cause for Celebration tonight at Comedy @ the Carlson, Starbridge will recognize Susan Goff, Kevin Guy, Jerard Johnson, and the Parents Helping Parents Coalition of Monroe County as the 2025 Community Champion Award recipients.

The Community Champion Awards celebrate individuals and organizations that lead with purpose, compassion, and integrity, shaping communities where everyone belongs. Each honoree reflects Starbridge’s core values of Collaboration, Inclusion, Integrity, and Trust, and demonstrates extraordinary leadership in advancing equity and opportunity for people with disabilities across the Finger Lakes region.

“It is both humbling and an honor to be recognized. Having the opportunity to work with incredible students, and see them meet their goals in real time is an amazing experience.”

— Kevin Guy

“Being nominated for the Community Champion Award reminds me that the work we do is never in isolation. It is a celebration of families, educators, and community partners coming together to create opportunities for children and families to thrive.”

— Jerard Johnson

“We are honored that our little program, Project S.H.O.W. “Students Hands on the World” and its dedicated staff are recognized for helping students become active participants in their homes, with their friends, and in the community through communication, flexibility, accountability, and mindfulness.”

— Susan Goff

“This recognition is not ours alone. It belongs to the families and organizations who stand together every day, reminding us of the power of community. It is in that shared support, love, and resilience that we find our greatest strength.”

— Brittany Jencik, President; Kim Dooher, Vice President; Danielle Salamone, Secretary, Parents Helping Parents Coalition of Monroe County
