St. John Fisher University Launches New Finance Concentration

Pittsford, N.Y. - The St. John Fisher University School of Business has announced the addition of a new finance concentration within its Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, expanding academic pathways for graduate students seeking advanced preparation in financial analysis, modeling, and decision-making.

Approved by the New York State Education Department, the new concentration becomes the fifth option within Fisher’s 30‑credit MBA program, joining accounting, general management, health systems management, and the pharmacy industry concentrations. The finance concentration is designed to provide students with a strong theoretical foundation and applied technical fluency, preparing graduates for roles in corporate finance, investment analysis, financial planning, and related fields. Throughout the program, students will gain hands-on experience with analytical tools used across the industry. Earlier this month, Fisher’s MBA program was ranked among the top 230 in the nation in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Grad Schools list. It has also been consistently named best MBA program in the Rochester Business Journal Reader Rankings.

“Fisher’s MBA has always emphasized practical, career-focused learning. This new concentration responds directly to employer demand for graduates who can interpret financial data, model scenarios, and make sound strategic recommendations and reinforces our commitment to preparing business leaders who are ready to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving financial landscape,” said Dr. Dan Connolly, dean of the School of Business.

The concentration will be taught by Fisher’s faculty experts in accounting and finance, including scholars with industry-recognized credentials including the CFA, CMA, and CFP designations.

The AACSB-accredited School of Business continues to demonstrate exceptional strength through its academic programs, strong employer partnerships, and career‑focused curriculum. Fisher’s MBA, which is also AACSB accredited, is designed with flexibility in mind to accommodate working professionals so they can easily balance work, family, and educational priorities. The program equips students with advanced skills, and is supported by weekly synchronous sessions that build real‑world connections. Graduates benefit from a powerful alumni network and a high job placement rate, with top employers including Deloitte, KPMG, Constellation Brands, ESL, Paychex, and Wegmans.
