Shelter Street Shooting Arrest

On October 5, around 6pm, Officers responded to the 100 block of Shelter Street for the report of a group of females fighting and shots heard and then a follow up call of a person shot. Upon arrival, Officers located 17-
year old female suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. She was transported to Strong Hospital for treatment.
During the course of the investigation, Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section learned that during a fight in the street, 19-year old Christiana Nartey allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots, with at least one striking the victim.
Efforts were underway in an attempt to locate Nartey, which led to Nartey turning herself in yesterday. She was transported to the Monroe County Jail. She was arraigned last night in CAP Court and is currently held without bail.
Christiana Nartey, age 19, is charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree.
