Savannah Street Shooting Arrest

On September 3, 2025, Officers responded to the area of Savannah Street and Adventure Place for the report of a male shot. Officers located a 53-year old male suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. The initial responding Officers quickly applied a tourniquet and the victim was transported to Strong Hospital for treatment of injuries that were determined to be no longer life threatening.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section’s Non-Fatal Shooting Team began investigating the incident and learned that the victim had been involved in a dispute with 46-year old Tyrone Newsome. On the night of the incident, the victim was walking on Savannah Street when Newsome allegedly pulled up behind him in a vehicle, exited the vehicle and shot the victim, before fleeing.

Yesterday, the United States Marshals Task Force located Newsome in the area of Manhattan Square Drive and safely took him into custody.

Tyrone Newsome, age 46, is charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 1st Degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree.
