MT. OLIVET BAPTIST CHURCH ANNOUNCES FALL CONCERT

What:

ree

Mt. Olivet Baptist Church will host the fall concert, “From Memphis to Hollywood: A Gala Celebration of Jazz” on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 4pm. Honoring the rich musical legacy of jazz and Memphis, the hometown of Senior Pastor Rickey B. Harvey, Sr., the program will feature a variety of songs, instrumental selections, and film scores by Duke Ellington, Nina Simone, Quincy Jones, Louis Prima, Leslie Bricusse, Miklós Rózsa, Florence Price, George Gershwin, and Hoagy Carmichael. Two jazz-inspired works by Peruvian-American composer and pianist Emmanuel Sikora will be premiered on the program, with the composer performing as a vocalist and violist. The Washington Post describes Sikora’s music as “an appealing melding of the romantic and the contemporary, unselfconscious and unpretentious.”

The concert, hosted by News 10 NBC Anchor Deanna Dewberry, will feature:

  • The Brockport Symphony Orchestra directed by Jonathan Allentoff

  • The Bach Children’s Chorus directed by Karla Krogstad

  • Bob Sneider and his Eastman Jazz Combo

  • Eloise Fadial - Violin soloist

  • Emmanuel Sikora - Composer-in-residence

  • Michael DeLuca - Vocal artist

This project is made possible with support from the Village of Brockport and funds from the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts Aid to Localities Program.
