ree

WHAT:

Mt. Olivet Baptist Church invites the community to a special Walk-A-Thon taking place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Genesee Valley Park, with the walk beginning promptly at 1:00 PM. This event is the kickoff to their 115th Anniversary as Rochester’s oldest historically African American Baptist Church.

The community event is a cornerstone of their ongoing commitment to promoting health, wellness, and unity within the community. The event will offer a unique opportunity for health organizations and community leaders to engage directly with community members in a spirit of fellowship and service. “We’re excited for this opportunity to fellowship with our congregation and community. As a church we want our community healthy in mind, body and soul” says Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Rickey B. Harvey, Sr.

The event is intended to promote healthy living and wellness initiatives and strengthen collaborative ties between faith-based and community organizations. “The Wegmans School of Nursing at St. John Fisher University is honored to walk in partnership with Mt. Olivet Baptist Church as they celebrate 115 years of faith, fellowship, and service. Through this collaboration, we stride together to promote health and wellness in our community—one step at a time,” says Tricia Gatlin Ph.D., RN, Dean of the St. John Fisher University Wegmans School of Nursing. The event will also feature health organizations there with impactful health education to share with participants—covering vital topics such as disease prevention, wellness strategies, long-term health maintenance, fitness and nutrition.
