M&T Bank Clothesline Art Festival Returns to Memorial Art Gallery September 7 and 8
MAG’s largest fundraiser and biggest celebration of the arts brings Rochester together at the community’s renowned museum; festivalgoers encouraged to bring donations for Sample Soap
M&T Bank and the Memorial Art Gallery have teamed up to bring the M&T Bank Clothesline Art Festival to the Rochester community once again this Saturday and Sunday.
With more than 60 years of history, the M&T Bank Clothesline Art Festival remains a forward-looking celebration of the arts and serves as a critical fundraiser that enables MAG to fulfill its mission to the community. Over 300 artists from across the country will display their work and offer it for purchase throughout this two-day, juried festival, which takes place on the expansive grounds of MAG.
Recognizing the event’s tradition of inspiring people to connect and uplift each other, M&T and MAG are encouraging festivalgoers this year to support their neighbors in need by bringing donations of toiletries and personal care products for Sample Soap. This collection drive will support Sample Soap’s efforts to serve people without homes, refugees, runaway children, women and families in transition, AIDS survivors, survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and others experiencing trauma or hardship. Drop-off boxes will be located at each of the two gate entrances for the festival.
The festival features all-day live entertainment, food from some of Rochester’s favorite food trucks and vendors, free family art activities, and opportunities to explore the museum.
WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 8 | 10 am–5 pm
WHERE: Memorial Art Gallery, 500 University Ave., Rochester, NY 14607
M&T Bank became the presenting sponsor of the Clothesline Art Festival nearly 30 years ago, building a relationship with the Memorial Art Gallery that has flourished over three decades. Most recently, M&T made a five-year commitment to provide sustained funding for the MAG-RCSD Expanded Learning Collaboration (ELC), becoming a major partner for the innovative educational program which will serve nearly 600 Rochester City School District students in second, third, and fourth grades this year.
M&T’s lifetime support and commitment to the Memorial Art Gallery has now surpassed $1.15 million. This milestone reinforces M&T’s enduring commitment to the arts and culture in Rochester and places the bank among a very small group of top donors throughout MAG’s 110-year history. In addition to its support for MAG, M&T Bank has donated more than $15 million to local nonprofits in the Rochester region over the last decade.
