Lyell Ave. MVA Investigation

Rochester, NY - On 5/11/26 at approximately 12:14 a.m., the Rochester Police Department responded to 98 Lyell Ave. for the report of a pedestrian struck motor vehicle accident. In addition to the Rochester Police Department, the Rochester Fire Department and AMR ambulance responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, responders located the pedestrian, a 28 year old, female, City of Rochester resident who was pinned underneath a Chevrolet sedan. The Rochester Fire Department was able to extricate the pedestrian from under the vehicle and AMR ambulance transported her to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of what has been determined to be non-life threatening injuries.
The subsequent investigation determined that said sedan was operated by a 49 year old, male, City of Rochester resident. The driver of the vehicle was in the process of leaving the parking lot of 98 Lyell Ave., when he drove over the pedestrian who was laying down in said parking lot.
Further investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle was impaired by alcohol and charged with DWI.
