Lollypop Farm Asks Community to Explore Adoption and Fostering Options

Fairport, N.Y. – As community need continues to outpace available shelter space, Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, is urging the community to open their homes for these deserving pets. Lollypop Farm is currently providing care to nearly 100 dogs, including dozens who are ready to find their adoptive or foster homes, while many more dogs in the region continue to await an opportunity for space and support. By choosing to open your home to a loving dog, members of the community can help to create the space needed to welcome others and give them the resources they need.

Given its current volume of animals, Lollypop Farm is having to delay non-emergency dog intakes into November due to limited space and available resources. At the same time, the need for services continues to grow across the region. Lollypop Farm is not alone in facing these challenges as shelters, rescue partners, and animal welfare organizations throughout the community are experiencing increased demand while facing limited capacity and fewer available placement options.

“We’re at a point where the number of dogs in our care is limiting our ability to welcome others who need our help,” said Vicky Pape, Lollypop Farm’s Director of Animal Placement. “We’re currently providing help to nearly 100 dogs, and we know there are many more in our community who will need assistance in the days and weeks ahead. When you choose to adopt or foster, you’re not only changing the life of the dog you welcome into your home; you’re helping us create the space to say ‘yes’ to another dog in need.”

For those unable to make a long-term commitment like adoption, Lollypop Farm also offers a comprehensive foster program. This initiative creates much needed space within the shelter and allows community members to temporarily provide a safe, nurturing environment for animals in need. All necessary supplies, veterinary care, and support are provided by Lollypop Farm. If you’re interested in becoming a temporary foster care provider, complete the registration form.

Upon arrival at Lollypop Farm, each dog is carefully evaluated by expert staff at the Klingenstein Veterinary Clinic. All dogs are fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped to ensure they are adoption ready. Adoption staff are available to assist prospective adopters, provide guidance, facilitate meet-and-greet opportunities, and to answer any questions. Additionally, Lollypop Farm has partnered with Petcademy to provide adopters with free training support to ensure a smooth transition. Through Petcademy, adopters gain access to a team of certified trainers available seven days a week via text or email. The service also includes online training videos, step-by-step guides, and resources tailored to each pet’s unique needs.
