Rochester, NY - Approximately 50 women will come together in purple and white on the main outdoor stairs of the Roger Robach Community Center at Ontario Beach Park on Thursday, August 20, as the I’m Still Standing Movement hosts an Empowerment Photoshoot celebrating the strength it takes to overcome adversity and continue moving forward.
The photoshoot will take place from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., with registration beginning at 5:30 p.m. Participants will wear the movement’s signature I’m Still Standing T-shirts and gather on the community center’s main outdoor stairs, facing Lake Ontario.
The event reflects the movement’s mission to empower, uplift, and unite women by creating an inspiring space where every story of resilience is honored. Through faith, community, storytelling, and empowerment experiences, the movement encourages women to embrace their journeys, rediscover their purpose, and stand boldly in the strength of who they have become.
For many women, overcoming adversity can shape their sense of self, relationships, and connection to others. The I’m Still Standing Movement recognizes the value of community, storytelling, and meaningful relationships as women navigate their individual journeys. The movement creates opportunities for women to connect with one another, share experiences, build relationships, and remind one another that their stories matter.
“I'm Still Standing is about more than a shirt,” said Tamesha Beckford, Founder. “It represents the moments when life tests us, the challenges we overcome, and the decision to continue standing. When we come together, our individual stories become part of something bigger.”
The movement believes that every woman who has overcome adversity carries a story that can inspire hope, courage, and possibility in others. The August 20 photoshoot will bring that belief to life through a collective visual statement of women standing together in purple and white. Together, they are more than survivors—they are overcomers, inspiring one another and future generations to live with courage, confidence, faith, and purpose.
The August 20 photoshoot will also be featured in the September issue of In Good Health, providing an opportunity to further share the movement’s message and the stories of the women who stand behind it.
Following the photoshoot, participants will gather for an evening of networking and conversation. The gathering will give women an opportunity to meet one another, expand their professional and personal networks, share experiences, and continue the conversations sparked by the photoshoot.
About the I’m Still Standing Movement:
The I’m Still Standing Movement brings women together to honor the experiences that have shaped their journeys and create opportunities for connection, storytelling, networking, and encouragement.
Through faith, community, storytelling, and empowerment experiences, the movement encourages women to embrace their journeys, rediscover their purpose, and stand boldly in who they have become.
The movement is grounded in a simple but powerful belief: a woman’s past does not define her, her struggles do not determine her future, and her voice has the power to transform lives.
No matter what you’ve been through... you’re still standing. And your story matters.
