Rochester, NY- On October 5, around 4:40am, Officers responded to Evergreen Street for the report of a person shot. Officers located the victim, a male in his 30s, suffering from assault type injuries and a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to Strong Hospital in life-threatening condition. Thankfully, the medical staff at Strong were able to stabilize him and have since deemed his injuries as non-life threatening.
The preliminary investigation found that there was an after-hours house party that led to a fight in the street and shot(s) were fired. Detectives were ultimately able to identify 27-year old Hassann Ross as the suspected shooter. Yesterday, the Rochester Police Department’s Tactical Unit located Ross on Ravine Avenue and safely took him into custody.
Hassann Ross, age 27, is charged with Assault in the 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree. The Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree charge is based upon Ross possessing a firearm after having a criminal conviction. In this case, Ross was convicted of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree and Robbery in the 1st Degree in 2017. He was released from Parole in September of 2025.
