ROCHESTER, N.Y. – ESL Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that Great Place to Work® and Fortune magazine named the locally owned financial institution as one of 2025’s Best Workplaces for Women. ESL ranked number #15 on the list of 50 Best Small and Medium Workplaces for Women. The remaining 100 companies feature large companies with more than 1,000 employees to complete the full list of 150 Best Workplaces for Women. This is the fourth Great Place to Work selection for ESL in 2025.

To determine the Best Workplaces for Women™ list, Great Place to Work uses confidential employee survey data and other company-provided data points to measure key behaviors in the workplace. Companies must meet specific criteria such as having a fair number of women, high female representation in leadership, and a high Trust Index score from female employees. Companies must also consistently create a positive workplace culture.

In recognition of ESL’s support of its female employees, ESL is proud to report that recent Great Place to Work survey data shows:

  • 92% of employees say ESL is a great place to work, compared to 57% of U.S.-based companies

  • 69% of ESL’s supervisors are women.

  • 66% of ESL’s 2025 promotions went to women.

  • 65% of ESL’s total workforce are women.

“It’s an absolute honor to be named to a fourth Great Place to Work list this year,” said executive vice president/director, human resources & community impact, Maureen Wolfe. “We know that providing a superior workplace experience for women helps us to deliver superior customer experiences. We are grateful for their commitment and their dedication to our core values and customers every day.”
