Ernst Street Gun Arrests

Just after midnight, this morning, Officers received information that two males on bikes were possibly in possession of a handgun. Officers attempted to stop them and one male fled on his bike and then ran into the backyard of a house on Durnan Street. A perimeter was established and he was eventually located hiding in a dog pen in the backyard of a house in the 200 block of Ernst Street. Inside the dog pen with him, was a .380 caliber Glock handgun, which was loaded with seven rounds. He was transported to the Monroe County Jail and arraigned this morning in Rochester City Court.
Alex Laureano, age 23, is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree and Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree.
Around 90 minutes later, at 1:30am, Officers were in the area of Hudson Avenue and Ernst Street when they heard a discussion between 29-year old Quamayne Cooper and another individual about how Cooper had a handgun in his car. During the subsequent observations and investigation, Officers located a 9mm Glock handgun, in plain view, on the floorboard of a 2010 Subaru. The Subaru, which was registered to Mr. Cooper and he had the keys in his pocket. Cooper was safely taken into custody, transported to the Monroe County Jail, and arraigned this morning in Rochester City Court.
