Eastman School of Music, of the University of Rochester, is excited to host its second “Celebration of Women in Jazz” on Saturday, October 4, 2025. This event will feature concerts and workshops with world-renowned jazz artists and scholars.
Kicking off the weekend is GRAMMY Award-winning drummer and producer Terri Lynn Carrington, presenting We Insist! from Max Roach’s “Freedom Now Suite” on Friday, October 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Kilbourn Hall. TICKETS HERE.
On Saturday, Carrington will present a keynote speech in Hatch Recital Hall at 9:00 a.m., followed by a full day of hands-on opportunities in improvisation, interactive learning, and networking. Young jazz musicians of all abilities, ages 14-25, are encouraged to work with Eastman jazz faculty members Christine Jensen, saxophone, and Sara Gazarek, voice, as well as trumpet phenom Milena Casado, who The New York Times deemed “a revelation.” REGISTER HERE.
