East High to Honor Student-Athletes in Commitment Ceremony

Details: On Monday, May 11, 2026, East High School will host a recognition ceremony for five standout members of the Varsity Baseball team. This event celebrates a unique group of seniors who have achieved distinction both on the diamond and in the classroom.

 

While typical “signing days” focus solely on sports, this ceremony highlights the total collegiate commitment. This year’s honorees include the Class of 2026 Valedictorian, Salutatorian, other top-ranked scholars, and multi-sport collegiate recruits.  

 

  • Kyle Markham (Valedictorian): Committing to Mt. St. Mary’s (Division I), where he will study Data Science and play baseball.  Kyle is the first RCSD student to commit to play baseball at a Division I program since 2016.

  • Mitchell Nieves (Salutatorian): Committing to Genesee Community College, where he will study Engineering and play baseball.

  • Justus Robinson (3rd in class): Committing to Gordon College (Division III) to study Finance and play baseball.

  • Eric Jones: Committing to West Virginia Wesleyan University to study Exercise Science and play both football and baseball.

  • Carlos Gaston (6th in class): Committing to RIT to study Computer Science and Cybersecurity. Carlos has been a coach for the Liquid Prime travel baseball program and plans to continue coaching.  

 

Players, their families, coaches, and East High School staff will hold a brief ceremony on Monday to celebrate these accomplishments.
