Dewey Ave. Investigation

Rochester, NY - On 10/5/26 at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Rochester Police Department responded to the 500 block of Dewey Ave. for the report of a person armed with firearm inside of a residence.  During the course of the investigation, various streets in the Dewey Ave. corridor were closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. 

The subsequent investigation revealed that a male, along with several female occupants of a residence in the 500 block of Dewey Ave. were involved in a verbal altercation.  During the course of this altercation the male was in possession of a firearm which has since been recovered. 

The investigation is on-going at this time though criminal charges have yet to be filed.  Vehicular as well as pedestrian traffic has since reopened in the area and there is no threat to the community at large.
