Dayton Street Shooting Arrest



Rochester, NY. - June 26, 2025


On June 18th, around 8:30pm, Officers responded to Dayton Street for the report of a person shot. On arrival,

they located a 22-year old male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to Strong

Hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. Thankfully, the medical staff at Strong were able to stabilize

him and his injuries are no longer considered life-threatening.

Detectives from the from the Criminal Investigation Section’s Non-Fatal Shooting team learned that there was

an argument involving a 3rd party female that escalated to the victim being shot. On Tuesday, the United States

Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force located the suspect, 31-year old Jahmel Jackson, in

the 300 block of Pullman Street. He was safely taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Jail.

Jahmel Jackson, age 31, is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd

Degree. He was arraigned in Rochester City Court and is being held without bail in the Monroe County Jail.
