Clifford Avenue Officer Assaulted

Rochester, NY - Around 4:15pm, yesterday, Officers responded to the 1300 block of Clifford Avenue for the report of a family trouble. The preliminary investigation found that 33-year old Elio-Enrique Azuaje-Hasma allegedly punched a family member in the face, causing injury. Additionally, Azuaje-Hasma had an outstanding domestic warrant for Aggravated Harassment in the 2nd Degree. When Officers attempted to take him into custody, he attempted to run back into the house and then began fighting with the Officers. As Officers were attempting to take him into custody, his 14-year old son began repeatedly striking the arresting Officers. Additional Officers responded to the scene and eventually both father and son were safely taken into custody.
During the incident, an Officer suffered a lower body injury and will be on medical leave for the foreseeable future.
Azuaje-Hasma, age 33, was transported to the Monroe County jail and charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, and an outstanding warrant for Aggravated Harassment in the 2nd Degree. He was arraigned in Rochester City Court and is currently being held on $20,000 bail.
The 14-year old was charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. He was issued an appearance ticket.
