Applications Now Open for City of Rochester Summer Recreation and Aquatics Positions

Rochester, NY - Employment applications are now being accepted for summer recreation and aquatics positions across the City of Rochester’s R-Centers, camps, pools and beaches. Opportunities are available for a variety of ages and experience levels, from entry-level positions for applicants aged 15 and older, to supervisory positions for more experienced applicants. Qualified candidates will be contacted for interviews beginning in March, for jobs starting in June 2026.
For the following recreation positions, interested candidates can apply at www.CityofRochester.gov/RecJobs. These positions require a high school diploma or GED:
Recreation Assistant
Senior Recreation Assistant
Day Camp Supervisor
For the following aquatics positions, applicants can visit www.CityofRochester.gov/RecJobs. Lifeguarding positions start at $20.60 per hour and require relevant certifications specified in each job description.
Lifeguard or Beach Lifeguard

For those interested in gaining skills and experience to qualify for lifeguarding positions, the City of Rochester will once again offer certification classes. March through May at the Trenton and Pamela Jackson R-Center, 485 N. Clinton Ave, lifeguarding certification and recertification courses will be free to City of Rochester residents. Non-residents can also participate—$75 for non-resident youth and $125 for non-resident adults.
A Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course will also be available to city residents for $175 and to non-residents for $400. WSI certification is required for supervisory aquatics positions.
