Hi! I have been using https://shifton.com/shift-scheduling for over a year now and can tell you how it works in practice. In the beginning, we, like you, also asked ourselves questions about the convenience and functionality of the system. It seems that automation is a cool thing, but there are always doubts about how it will work in real conditions. Especially when it comes to unpredictable changes in the schedule, for example, if someone suddenly gets sick or you urgently need to change the shift. Well, Shifton actually copes with such tasks quite well. The system allows you to take into account employee restrictions (for example, who can only work in the morning shifts or who cannot work on weekends), and then, based on this data, it itself generates an optimal schedule. This is, of course, convenient, because it gets rid of routine and saves time. But when changes occur, for example, replacing an employee due to illness, shift schedule online offers manual editing. It is important to understand that the system is not trying to replace a person, but rather helps him. It signals who is available for replacement and helps find suitable employees who meet all the criteria without violating working hours and other restrictions. This is very convenient, especially when you need to quickly replace someone in the schedule, and doing it manually without a system would be problematic.

The topic is interesting, and I also use Shifton in my company. The system really allows you to easily create schedules, and automatic planning is probably its main advantage. Sometimes it’s even a pity that we used to do everything manually, because now you can not only save time, but also avoid mistakes. I especially like that the system takes into account which employees can work when and for how long, and also helps automatically calculate working hours taking into account all restrictions.
