Matthew Augustine

Matthew Augustine was born in Georgia and raised in central Louisiana. He has been a resident of the Rochester community since 1976 and resides in Pittsford, New York. He is currently a widower, and was married to the late Rita Vi Augustine for over 33 years. He has three each sons, granddaughters and grandsons.

Mr. Augustine has served as President and CEO of Eltrex Industries since 1976. Eltrex provides contract manufacturing, logistics services, and document processing. The Company has three facilities, all located within the City of Rochester. Mr. Augustine previously worked for Adage in Boston, Massachusetts as Director of Management Information Systems and Materials Manager. Prior to that, he worked for the Polaroid Corporation as a Production Manager. He served as the 1992-1993 Distinguished Minett Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he taught courses in Entrepreneurship and Starting New Ventures. He also served in the United States Marine Corps, including a year in Vietnam (Military Intelligence with Final Top Secret Clearance) for which he was awarded the Joint Services Commendation Medal.

Mr. Augustine received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1969, Master of Business Administration from Harvard University in 1971, and is currently matriculating at St John Fisher College for his Doctorate in Executive Leadership. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha and Sigma Pi Phi fraternities. He is the recipient of numerous awards both on a local and national level for professional and personal successes. He was selected as the Small Business Person of the Year by the Small Business Council of Rochester. He was inducted into the Rochester Business Hall of Fame in 2002. He was selected as one of Rochester's 50 over 50 in 2003. In 2005 he was inducted into the First Church Divine Hall of Fame. In 2006 he received the Housing & Economic Development Award from the NYS Association of Black & Puerto Rican Legislators. In 2007 he received the 71st Annual Rochester Rotary Award.
