Lovely
Warren
Faith,
hard work, and service to others form the foundation of the McClary family and
those family essentials have guided North East Councilwoman Lovely Ann Warren
towards her path to community service to the residents of Rochester, New York.
Since
she was a young child, Lovely was known for speaking out and standing up for the
rights of others. In 1986 after her beloved Grandfather Cecil McClary Sr. was
seriously wounded by gunfire while working at Wegmans on West Avenue, this life-changing
event strengthened her resolve to become an attorney and serve her community to
make it a better place for all residents.
Now, Councilwoman Warren uses her
legal background to serve as an advocate for her constituents in the North East
on Rochester's City Council. It's a position she has held since May of 2007 and
to which she was elected in November of 2007.
When asked how she views her
role on the Rochester City Council, Lovely says "I am your voice on City
Council, and I'm sure we share a care and concern about many of the same things
- good jobs, safe streets, clean neighborhoods, a healthy environment for children,
a good quality of life for the elderly. My commitment is to restoring hope and
rebuilding a community that works for all of its people."
Since June 2000,
Lovely has also served the people of Rochester first as a Legislative Assistant,
Deputy Counsel, and now as Lead Counsel to New York State Assemblyman David F.
Gantt.
Lovely's experience in the legal field was further developed as she
served as a Summer Law Clerk in 2002 to then New York State Attorney General Eliot
Spitzer and as a Summer Judicial Clerk in 2001 to the Honorable Teresa Johnson,
Presiding Judge of the Rochester City Court.
Lovely was born and raised in
the City of Rochester and graduated from Wilson Magnet High School and earned
a Bachelor of Arts from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a Juris Doctorate
from Albany Law School of Union University.
Lovely lives in the North East
section of the City with her loving and supportive husband Timothy Granison who
also shares her commitment and passion for the City of Rochester, a place she
desires that one day all of it's residents will be "proud to call home."
