Julius David Jackson, Jr.

Born in Centreville, Mississippi Julius, Jr. spent the first year of life in Monroe, Louisiana until his family relocated to Rochester, NY. He attended elementary, secondary, high school and college in Rochester prior to moving to Naples, Florida where he would reside for 5 years.
Upon learning of his father's incapacitation due to a stroke, he returned to Rochester to assist and support the family. Returning to school to complete his education at the Rochester Institute of Technology, he earned a bachelors degree in Business Administration Management Information Systems.
Following the passing of his father Julius founded the Rev. J.D. Jackson, Sr. Memorial Foundation, Inc. Since its inception the foundation has awarded five scholarships, produced a website and newsletter, "Marching On!" of which Julius is the publisher. Julius also supports the Charles T. Lunsford Scholarship program of his fraternity chapter Eta Rho Lambda, of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and contributes through the United Way to the Theta Omicron Scholarship Foundation of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
As a member of the Eta Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. he established the chapter's first website, conceptualized and produced "The Transcender", the chapter's first newsletter and introduced two annual events "Alpha Church Day", and "Alpha Frederick Douglass Day", the Celebration of the posthumous induction of Frederick Douglass into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Julius, Jr. is a member of Eureka Lodge #36 Prince Hall Masons and has provided the organization more of a prominence in the Rochester Community. Nowhere else is this more evident than in the event proposed by Julius, Jr. in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the building of the memorial to him in our Nation's capital.
In 2003 Julius served as chairman for events supporting the building of the monument to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Washington D.C which raised several thousands of dollars for the memorial project.
Julius is a 2001 graduate of the United Way sponsored African American Leadership Development Program. He annually exhibits his culinary skills at the Urban League Guild's Distinguished Male Chef's event. He is a blood donor for the American Red Cross and has participated in the annual March of Dimes Walk America event and the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Annual Lock-up. He has served as a judge for both the New Bethel C.M.E. Church and Friends of Frederick Douglas oratorical contests. He is a member of the Monroe County Democratic Committee and has participated on committees in several political campaigns at the local, state and national level. He has served on the boards of Big Brother Big Sisters and the School of the Arts. He is also a member of TNT ("True Networking Thursday") and volunteer with the STAR (Sister's Together Achieving Results) Organization.
For his fraternal and civic work, Julius has received the following Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. awards: Award of Service from the Eta Rho Lambda Chapter and Alumni Brother of the Year from the New York State Association Chapters of Alpha (N.Y.A.C.O.A.) He was recently selected to receive the Charles T. Lunsford Award for Community Service from the Rochester Urban League.
He has been published in the Rochester's Democrat and Chronicle, Minority Reporter and About Time Magazine. He also publishes "Rochester N.Y. Events" a weekly email distribution list highlighting local events in the Rochester area.
He is a member of the Aenon Baptist Church, married and the father of two sons.
