Evangela Stanley

Evangela Stanley is the owner of "Peoples Kitchen," 507 Chili Avenue in Rochester, specializing in Jamaican jerk chicken, oxtails and curry chicken amongst other dishes.
She was born in Bainbridge, GA to Mary Stanley and Watson Holley. Evangela along with her parents relocated to Rochester in the late 70's. Evangela, also known as "Van", graduated from East High School; she attended Bryant & Stratton Business Institute and Rochester Business Institute majoring in Business. Van has been employed by the following companies: UPS for 4 years serving as a customer service representative, Strong Memorial Hospital in the Pediatrics department as a patient access associate, and Xerox as a Technical Support Representative for 4 years.
In 2001 Van successfully opened "People's Choice Kitchen". She has been the proud owner and sole proprietor for the past 7 years and has enjoyed the interaction with her many frequent customers and serving the wonderful Rochester community. In 2007 Van, along with six local Salons and Pathways to Peace sponsored "Sister's Giving a Smile". This event catered to battered and homeless women. During this event 25 Women were pampered for a day, receiving a beauty makeover that included a manicure, pedicure and hairstyle at the New Creations unisex salon and Hair Embassy. Each recipient also received lunch catered by People's Choice Kitchen. This event was made a success due to the collaboration and efforts of all participants and sponsors. Van also hosted a clothing drive during the event, which provided a surplus of donations of clothing, shoes, accessories and many additional items to those in need.
Van has also catered and served at events hosted for a countless list of stars, including Beenie Man, Baby Cham, Mr. Vegas, Tony Mantalonr, Crisette Michelle, Sammy, Raheem Davaughn, Bone Thugs, Day 26, Joe, Betty Wright, Trinity, Rocco, Sean Kingston, and many more.
